If I took one of those Blogthings for Which talk show host are you?, then I'd surely be Stephen Colbert. Check out his latest entry on Wikilobbying.

Add this to his recent rant about hockey (my passion) and Oshawa (my teenage home). This guy is me!

Today is the day I finally gave up on Flickr. I must have been one of their first users and first paid users, long before the Yahoo! thing. I was a really big fan, so much that I started a photosharing company.

These days, I can't upload photos using the Uploadr anymore. I've tried getting support from Yahoo!, but their response is try an alternative Flickr client. I've tried several and they all fail for me. They think the problem is my Linksys router or security software, but I have the problem with multiple computers and locations. They've been aware of this problem with many users for a year and a half. I just find it amazing how Yahoo! continues to buy great companies and kill them. If you are looking for a reason for this (stock price graph), then don't look any further.

This is goodbye. Hello Picasa!

Cineplex Odeon has introduced a membership card called Scene for the GTA (Toronto). The card is free, gives you 10% off concessions and you can build up reward points by simply going to the movies.

Which science fiction writer are you?

Scoble has been his usual self these last two days. First, he bashes some a-list bloggers for not linking to bloggers instead of the mainstream media. Then, he apologizes and says he went too far. The truth is, Scoble was 100% correct and is just being a nice guy apologizing. That's what I like about Scoble. He'll point out your flaws, tell you he's sorry and that you are great, all in the same sentence.

More to the point, he is so correct about linking behavior. I find most bloggers just love linking to big media and hate linking to their pier bloggers. That's just not the way to grow your blog. Do you really think you'll get the attention of some New York Times editor? Do you think you're having a conversation with them? In a big sea, it's very difficult to get noticed. So why do you neglect linking to your pier bloggers? I can never figure it out. Personally, I try to link every post to a blogger. Sometimes, I'll even search on topic at Google Blog Search just to find somebody else talking about the same subject and throw them a free link.

There were five country churches in a small TEXAS town: The Presbyterian Church, the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church, the Catholic Church and the Jewish Synagogue. Each church was overrun with pesky squirrels.
  • One day, the Presbyterian Church called a meeting to decide what to do about the squirrels. After much prayer and consideration, they determined that the squirrels were predestined to be there; and, they shouldn't interfere with God's divine will.
  • In the Baptist Church the squirrels had taken up habitation in the baptistery. The deacons met and decided to put a cover on the baptistery, and drown the squirrels in it. The squirrels escaped somehow; and, there were twice as many there the next week.
  • The Methodist Church got together and decided that they were not in a position to harm any of God's creation. So, they humanely trapped the Squirrels, and set them free a few miles outside of town. Three days later, the squirrels were back.
  • But, the Catholic Church came up with the best and most effective solution. They baptized the squirrels and registered them as members of the church. Now they only see them on Christmas and Easter.
  • Not much was heard about the Jewish Synagogue; but, they took one squirrel, and had a short service with him called circumcision.  They haven't seen a squirrel on the property since.

Turns out, I'm a hotty! My pic on MySpace, which is quite geeky BTW, has an average ranking of 4.6 out of 5. I think I'll upload a less geeky pic and see if I can get the ranking up to 4.7.

Bell Canada, Canada's largest telco, is simply the most ridiculous company in the world. This company has a near monopoly in many parts of Canada. They could run themselves properly and make a fortune, instead of focusing on the dumb things they do. In order to improve their stock price, they converted to an income trust to gain some tax savings. The government, not being stupid, simply changed the laws to void the loophole. Instead of giving customers good service, they seem to be trying to screw their customers at every turn. The problem is that they still have all these monopoly rights which makes it too easy for people to put up with their screw jobs. I'm one of them. I have both a cell phone and land-line with them. I've tried converting, but I'm told that I wouldn't be able to keep the same phone numbers, which I've had for more than 10 years. They keep telling me that there's legislation that keeps get deferred that will enable me to move my phone number between providers. They've been telling me this for 5 years. Frustrating.

Creepy!

The newest Disney customed characters have mouthes that move.

Now that we know all the details, we can finally complete the best scene in the best movie EVAR!

I'm not saying every call needs to be returned. I surely don't return calls or take messages for telemarketers and sometimes I get phone calls from strangers, which I quickly delete, but I do try to return phone calls and emails from friends or acquaintances. Lately, I've been engaged in a couple business ventures, which oddly ended by the other parties not answering my emails or returning my phone calls. In one case, I have no idea what happened, but in the second, the other person had screwed up and obviously might have been embarrassed. Either way, I'm amazed how quickly people will turn from savvy business people into rude people who like to burn bridges.

Video of Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous speech. Quite lengthy (17 minutes). Worth the watch.

I just added MyBlogLog to the right sidebar. It's pretty cool. For those users that register, your picture will be shown in the right sidebar when you've recently been reading this blog. You can also add other bloggers as contacts, join communities and leave messages. It's MySpace for bloggers that don't like ugly looking profiles.

My son is gonna love this one.

The #1 movie of 2007 will be Transformers. Check out the trailer.

When Apollo Mission Astronaut Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon, he not only gave his famous "One small step for man; one giant leap for mankind" statement, but followed it by several remarks, including the usual COM traffic between him, the other astronauts, and Mission Control. Before he re-entered the lander, he made the enigmatic remark "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky."

Many people at NASA thought it was a casual remark concerning some rival Soviet Cosmonaut. However, upon checking, [they found] there was no Gorsky in either the Russian or American space programs.

Over the years, many people have questioned him as to what the "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky" statement meant. On July 5, in Tampa Bay, FL, while answering questions following a speech, a reporter brought up the 26- year-old question to Armstrong. He finally responded. It seems that Mr. Gorsky had died and so Armstrong felt he could answer the question. When he was a kid, Neil was playing baseball with his brother in the backyard. His brother hit a fly ball which landed in front of his neighbors' bedroom window. The neighbors were Mr. and Mrs. Gorksy. As he leaned down to pick up the ball, he heard Mrs. Gorsky shouting at Mr. Gorsky, "Oral sex? Oral sex you want? You'll get oral sex when the kid next door walks on the moon!"

A trailer for Disney's upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean MMORPG (i.e. online game).

The worst proof in the world, is when you extrapolate using a very small subset of the data. For instance this video by Sir David Attenborough. He uses data from the last 150 years to extrapolate that we are causing the Earth to increase in temperature. What you have to remember is that the Earth is millions of years old. So, he's using less than 1% of 1% of the data to prove his point. Now, 1% of 1% of my life is about 1.x days. If you used the last 1.x days to examine my employability, then you'd say that I'm not employable. Yet clearly I've worked most of my life. Now don't get me wrong, I'm an environmentalist, but I just hate proof by example and this guys did us a disservice by giving the opposition an easy argument.

And thanks to Martin for sending me the video.

I think this is the first YouTube video that was so popular, it kicked started this girls career. She even started a blog and been on TV.

I added a small blogroll in the right sidebar (bottom). I use to have a 1000 feed blogroll, which I couldn't exactly outline on this blog. I've reduced it to a dozen or so blogs so that I can share link love with those that share link love with me. Initial blogroll is reproduced below. If you are a regular here and missing from the list, then leave a comment and I'll consider adding you.

An awesome preview of Iotum's Talk-Now technology on a Blackberry.

Digg It! << NOW!!!

I tried RuneScape earlier today. Quite a time killer. A little too slow for me. I played for 15 minutes and was only partly thru the tutorial. The Java interface was very jerky and the player is not very responsive. I can't believe this is one of the most popular MMORPGs. I do very much like the fact that it runs in the Web browser; how I hate installing things.

Wow, I'm just so amazed how stupid some bloggers really are. I had this one protege blogger that I linked to for years. Then one day, he joins Microsoft and I find he's re-blogging my stuff without sourcing me. Wow! I thought that was weird so I posted an inquiring link on his blog. He denied he knew I blogged the same thing 3 days before him. Coincidence? No chance. You see, I blogged two clips. A commercial and preview for a video game. Had he blogged one or the other, then whatever. But he blogged the same exactly two clips and he's one of my most dedicated readers. No source. Then denied he copied. Wow! Sorry Dude, that's goodbye. You belong with Microsoft.

Finally, a useful photosharing website. Take a picture of an asshole that can't park and upload it here. Too bad they blur the license plates. It would be nice if you could sort them by plates and get a feel for the biggest assholes of them all.

I was asked by a reader what the breakdown of my earnings are on the KBCafe blogs. Here's a list based on my recent AdSense earnings.

This does not account for earnings from BlogAds, ReviewMe and FeedBurner FAN, but Google accounts for most of my revenues and the rest wouldn't affect the percentages very much.

I got exactly in the middle, so my brain is neither more male or more female. Spotting the difference, I scored 64%. Systemizing, I scored 15 of 20. Eyes, I got only 5 of 10. 3D Shapes, I got perfect. Words, I sucked off the bottom of the chart.
