I drove thru New Orleans on Mardi Gras. We didn't enjoy the festivities, but did stay the night. The city is still partially devastated from Katrina. We passed by a hundred abandoned houses, businesses and stores. Several communities remain completely abandoned. Many fences remain toppled. The damage is quite the sore. Yet, the community had its best festival since the flood. Congratulations to the community for surviving and persevering.
I'm serious. One of the stupidest things you can do to your business is change addresses. Today, I went to deliver a check to my broker. They F-ing moved. I didn't know. They didn't tell me. Your best customers are your existing customers. Don't make it hard for them to find you.
Every once in awhile, I cannot believe some of the things they are teaching my kids in school. Today I read in my 11 yr old daughter's homework that the French translation of Walkman is 'un lecteur de disque compact'. Walkman is a brand name. That's a proper name. Unless Sony says otherwise, the translation of Walkman in French is Walkman. The translation of CD player may be 'un lecteur de disque compact'. My name in Chinese is still Randy.
I told my daughter, but also told her to listen and do whatever her teacher wants.
