Norm Walsh: A while back, I offered some suggestions about what to do instead of escaping markup. Near the end of that essay, I challenged the folks that are in favor of escaped markup to build a feed for two HTML documents.

Randy: Trival. The question is "Does it matter, if I put the encoding in the declaration of the XML?"

By the way, tell me if I got anything incorrect, so that I may fix. I did this on a whim.

Hi Randy. Maybe I'm overlooking it, but I don't see a link to the RSS file. Maybe there's something wrong with the links above?
Norman Walsh
I didn't make RSS files. I just made XML files showing how it would be done. If you want, I can make equivalent RSS files, but they would be similar except that your content would be in the description of the one item.

Thinking further, did you want one RSS file for both entries. I could do that too, if you want.
Randy
I was looking for a single RSS feed that included both of the HTML documents I pointed to. In particular, I was looking for an RSS feed that used the simple "escaped markup" solution. It's easy if you're willing to parse through the two files and do a little cleanup, but if you're willing to do that, you don't need to escape the markup :-)
