This one I simply don't understand. If about.com is worth $410 million, then I'm confused. Four-five years ago, they were a great source of information on the Web. Now, they are a great source of ads on the Web. I often find it hard to find the content thru the ads. NYTimes is the big loser in this deal. Primedia, who purchased about.com for $500 million is stock is the big winner. Since the purchase, PRM share price has dropped more than half its value. Running the numbers and you get $410 million in cash for about $200 million in shares.
The only thing I know to do now is put -about.com
but why should I have to remember to do that all the time.

Oh, man! I didn't realize as many people hate abutt.com as much as I do!!! When I see a link to them pop up in a google search...I run like hell.
Even worse is that as a professional journalist...did I say PROFESSIONAL? abutt.com denied me employment as a guide because they said my writing was not up to their standards? My editor laughed. I laughed. It was ridiculous! I write for a real, honest to God, LIVE magazine that actually gets read and is on newsstands and my writing is not "up to their standards?"

Crowded web pages, dead links in articles, poor article content. Misleading article titles. Example: About.com article about "Network Firewalls" and the article consists of "how to grow better flowers in your garden.".
It consist of nothing but an endless amount of redirected crap. The cut and paste authors are lazy and it's just over all crap. Every time I see an About.com page I'll leave and boycott their sponsors.
