I've seen the documentary as well. And I have to disagree with a former comment about how wonderfull the doctor is. The fact that he did this for free is exposure. He saw an opportunity and took it. I know he said that he is probably the only surgeon in the world who could do this, well I don't thnink so. I hate it when people do good stuff for more than the reason of doing good. It's always about commercial aspects as well. Look at all the artists lining up for fund raising concerts and stuff like that, I think that only half of those artist actually care about the actual fund raising. There are not many celebrities I actually believe when they say it's all about charity. A lot of them use it the wrong way around, they use charity for exposure en media attention where they should use media attention for charity. Look at all the US celebs, thay ALL have their own "foundation". If you don't have one, you're a nobody. What would you say if your manager or pr person says to you: sorry sir but don't make any anonimous donations, it doesn't do your reputation any good". How about your reputation? Do you know that there are thousands of children dieing every day? that more than half the world's population lives in poverty? That in countries like the USA 99 percent of the gross national product is made by less than 1 percent of the population? that the USA is actualy oficialy a third world country due to it's number of people living in poverty? there are a lot of things that should be general knowledge and commonly known but you can blame yourself and your countries' government because it is these things that the world leadres do not want you to know because it might cause mass hysteria. There are hundred times more things they will not tell you then there are things they will. so how about we relativize this twin story and open our eyes. Try to see that it is not going well on this planet. Not at all. I will not blame anyone or anything, But there is one country with a retarded redneck with a Kentucky Fried Brain Who Thinks That McDonalds Meat Comes From Old McDonalds Farm at it's head that could do something about it. I'm not saying that US is the blame, but they aren't doing much for the cause as well. It's a very powefull nation and it could make a big difference if it would. I never saw this tiny miracle on my television i was simply poking around on th einternet and came across it.
i live in a australia i am i young mother of a beutiful daughter and am pregnant i sat here and tried to put myself in the mothers shoes regardless of what you all think to be a mother and know that you had put breath into 3 loving lives and then lost two is a thought to painful to even comprehend so i say spare a thought for that poor mother and the sister still alive and think what a deep loss she will feel for the rest of her life but never really understand why
my prayers are with this family right till the end....

I am from Argentina, as you said, a "third world country not as evolved as yours", and let me tell you something; identical twins, they may or not be conjoined, occur because of a mutation of the fertilized egg... As it is developing into a regular baby, it copies al the DNA information and the it splits in two. Sometimes it's not separated completely: conjoined twins.

(not american people, you in particular) were as "evolved" as you said, then you should know how this process is, and that it has absolutely nothing to do with the country where you live or who you are.
I really wish this does not happen to you, because the decision about putting your childrens' life in danger just to give them the chance to lead a "normal" one, or at least one that's accepted by society must be terrible.

To the commenter who said "there can not be God when this sort of thing exists", do you think there cannot be a God when death, or disease exists? Are you saying there can only be a god in a world where everybody and everything lives in perfect harmony, and nothing ever dies? Personally, I prefer living in a world where God doesn't make everything perfect.
No evolution, no free will, nothing bad ever happening (and thus, never any sadness or happiness) and a world population over 100 Billion, is that what you want? A God who directs every action of nature and of human existence? Sounds like a pretty crappy, albeit fairy-tale God.
